Heidelberg Drops First OAC Match

Westerville, Ohio – October 27, 2009 – The no. 17 Heidelberg University volleyball team won set one, but could not sustain its momentum and dropped a 3-1 (27-25, 23-25, 23-25, 18-25) decision to host Otterbein College in an Ohio Athletic Conference match up.

The setback is the first in league action for the Berg which now stands at 7-1 and is in a first place tie with Mount Union College. Heidelberg closes out the regular season at Mount Union in a battle for sole possession of the regular season trophy and the no. 1 seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament that begins with quarterfinal action on Nov. 3.

For the year, Heidelberg boasts an overall record of 24-6, while Otterbein stands at 22-8 overall and 4-4 in the OAC.

Reigning OAC Player of the Week Jacki Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) recorded her first collegiate double-double, finishing with 10 kills and 14 digs. She also added three service aces.

Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) had a match-high 17 kills, to go along with 14 digs for a double-double, while Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) had 40 assists and 10 digs to make it three seeing double.

Leading the defense was Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted) with 26 digs. Suzy Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) contributed 13 digs.
