Austintown, Ohio - September 9, 2010 - It takes a lot of determination to be a two-time Ohio Athletic Conference Libero of the Year and an All-American, as well as a top performer in the classroom, all while leading the Heidelberg University volleyball to unheralded success, but libero Brittany Donelan would not have it any other way.
Entering her final campaign at the Berg, Donelan has handled the demands of being a student and an athlete. Her ability to demonstrate what it means to be an all-around performer has earned her the distinction of being the OAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month for the month of September.
“I have a lot of determination and I believe in myself,” said Donelan. “I trust the people that are around me and together we accomplish a lot. I credit my hard work and determination to my parents and the coaches at Heidelberg.”
Donelan is a two-time academic all-district honoree and has landed a spot on the Academic All-OAC Team, all while securing a spot on the Dean’s List in her first semester and never leaving. A double major in business administration and accounting, Donelan is looking forward to her final year at the Berg and continued success that is just over the horizon.
“Brittany takes a lot of pride in being successful at everything she does,” said 11th-year head volleyball coach Jason Miller. “She does not think about all the accolades she has received, but worries about her teammates. Brittany is the best team player that I have coached.”
