Austintown, Ohio – September 13, 2010 – Vanessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg), a senior member of the Heidelberg University volleyball team, has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 13, 2010.
Haase helped lead the Berg to a 3-1 finish last week, which included wins over SUNY New Paltz, 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-16), Hiram College, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-16) and Nazareth College, 3-0 (25-16,25-21,25-17). The Berg made a run this week at the Golden Flyer tournament where their only loss came against Juniata College, 0-3 (19-25,16-25,17-25) in the title game.
In Friday’s opening match against SUNY New Paltz, Haase put up a double-double registering 11 kills and 10 digs. Again on Friday verse Hiram she posted 11 kills to go along with nine digs.
Haase finished the tournament with 11 kills, six digs against Nazareth and nine kills, nine digs against Juniata. She leads the team with 85 kills and is third in digs with 100 after nine matches.
The Berg returns to Tiffin for their first home match on Tuesday, September 14, to take on Defiance College in Seiberling Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
