Westerville, Ohio – September 26, 2010 – The nationally ranked Heidelberg University volleyball team posted two wins at a tri-match hosted by Otterbein University on Saturday. The Berg opened the day with a 3-2 (17-25, 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13) Ohio Athletic Conference victory over the host Cardinals and followed with a 3-1 (27-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-18) non-conference win over Thomas More College. Heidelberg improves to 15-2 overall and 2-0 against league foes.
In the win over the Cardinals Marian Bevington (Celina, Ohio / Parkway) led the way with 14 kills followed by Jacki Street (Grafton, Ohio / Midview) and Venessa Haase (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) with 10 apiece. Haase added four service aces and completed a double-double with 14 digs. Rachel Ferguson (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton) dished out 25 assists followed by Alexa Frank (Tiffin, Ohio / Calvert) with 12. All-American Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted) led the defense with 37 digs. Jackie Reinhart (New Riegel, Ohio / New Reigel) added 13.
Against the Saints, Bevington and Reinhart led the attack game with 10 kills each. Reinhart put together a double-double with a team-leading 20 digs. Also adding a double-double in the win was Frank with 16 assists and 13 digs. Ferguson added 28 assists. Donelan contributed 19 digs and Reinhart served up four aces.
Heidelberg returns to action on Tuesday, September 28 when it hosts Capital University in Seiberling Gymnasium for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
