Donelan Picks Up Academic Recognition

Tiffin, Ohio – November 4, 2010 – Senior libero Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted) of the Heidelberg University volleyball team is busy leading the way into the Ohio Athletic Conference semifinals, as well as maintaining high standards in the classroom. For her efforts she has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV First Team.

Joining Heidelberg as a member of District IV are institutions from NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools located in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. To be nominated for the all-district team the student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point and in at least their sophomore year at the institution and be a starter or key reserve. The all-district teams are voted on by sports information directors that are members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

By virtue of her nod on the all-district first team, Donelan will now be up for ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American honors. She will join the first team recipients from seven other districts.

In the classroom, Donelan is studying business administration and accounting. For her career she has maintained a 3.9 grade point average, while becoming the career digs leader at the Berg. It is the third straight year that she has earned academic all-district honors. In September she was named the OAC’s Scholar-Athlete of the Month. Donelan was tabbed an All-American as a junior and is a two-time OAC Libero of the Year.

Heidelberg stands at 30-5 overall and is set to host the OAC Tournament this weekend. The Berg is the top-seed after claiming its third regular season title.
