GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Heidelberg Unviersity volleyball team lost all four matches at the Midwest Volleyball Challenge hosted by Calvin College.
In the first match on Friday, Heidelberg (11-13) fell in five sets to No. 17 Chicago, 12-25 25-17 25-18 18-25 15-12. Amber Welfle has 16 kills and teammates Jamie Kluding and Sarah Parker added 13 apiece. Parker added six blocks.
Bethany College needed four sets to defeat the Student Princes in Friday’s second match, 25-21 25-23 15-25 25-16. Welfle, Kluding and Parker again carried the attack, finishing with 15, 13 and 11 kills respectively. Grace Samenuk and Jubilee Haase each had 16 digs. Welfle had 13.
Unfortunately for Heidelberg, Saturday’s matches had the same results.
Heidelberg lost to Clarkson 3-0, 25-18 25-21 25-22. No Student Princes reached double-figures in kills.
The final match of the weekend ended in a 3-0 loss at the hands of No. 6 Elmhurst. The Berg lost 25-18 25-17 25-9, and attacked at a .036 clip as a team.
Heidelberg volleyball returns to action on Tuesday at Baldwin Wallace. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
