Coach Information

Title:
Head Coach

Marcie Alberts enters her fourth season leading the Heidelberg women’s basketball program in 2011-12. In three seasons, Alberts has led the Berg to a 14-62 overall record and guided the team to its 24th appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament in just her second season.

In 2008, Alberts was named just the eighth head coach in the storied history of the Heidelberg University women’s basketball program, dating back to 1966. Since arriving at Heidelberg, Alberts has mentored three All-Ohio Athletic Conference student-athletes and five Academic All-OAC honorees.

Alberts came to Heidelberg following a successful coaching career at Orrville High School in Orrville, Ohio, where she amassed a 117-45 record in seven seasons. At Orrville, Alberts led the Red Riders to two Ohio Cardinal Conference Championships, three District IV crowns and a regional runner-up finish in 2005. Alberts was named District IV Coach of the Year twice, while also garnering OCC Coach of the Year and Inland District Coach of the Year honors in 2004.

No stranger to northwestern Ohio, Alberts served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Toledo prior taking the reigns at Orrville. Alberts helped guide the Rockets to the 2001 Mid-American Conference Championship and a subsequent bid to the NCAA tournament.

A Wooster, Ohio native, Alberts was a four-year letter winner at The Ohio State University, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors, and captained the team during her senior season.

After graduation, Alberts played one season with the Cleveland Rockers of the WNBA.

Alberts graduated from OSU with a Bachelor of Science in education and received her Master’s degree in recreation administration from Toledo. Alberts and her husband, Robert Marsh, have two children, Jordyn (9) and Madysen (3).
