Kathleen Phillips Named All-OAC

All-OAC Release

Junior Kathleen Phillips (Sandusky/St. Mary’s) receives the second All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection of her career by being named to the 2012-13 All-OAC second team.

Kathleen’s first All-OAC accolade came a season ago when she was named All-OAC honorable mention.

During the 2012-13 season, Phillips played in 24 games for the Berg, all of which were starts.

“She has led the league in scoring the last two years and shoots over 40% from the field as a parameter player who doesn’t play much in the post and doesn’t score a lot off of layups," said fifth yuear head coach Marcie Alberts. “It’s a true testament to her as a player when she shoots over 40% from the floor on mostly contested shots,” added Alberts.

Kathleen averaged a conference-leading 19.7 points per game and is fourth in the conference in three-point percentage with 40.6%. Phillips shot 41.4% from the floor, knocking down 180 field goals over the course of the season.

Kathleen hauled in 110 total rebounds, tallied 40 assists and 48 steals for the Student Princes.

Kathleen will return next year as one of five seniors on the Heidelberg roster, as the Berg looks to rebound from their 6-19 season, that ended on an ill-fated coin flip.

“There will certainly be no lack of experience on the court next year,” said Alberts. “I have told our future seniors that next year will be a defining point in the legacy they leave here at the Berg and what they do during next season will be how they are remembered as Student Princes. It is a lot of pressure on them but they must understand how to deal with the pressures of performing on the court and eventually in the real world,” said Alberts.
