Heidelberg Goes “HOOPAPALOOZA”

Tiffin, Ohio - November 12, 2009 - The Heidelberg University men’s and women’s basketball teams showed off their talents and got the crowd going at the “HOOPAPALOOZA” in Seiberling Gymnasium. The basketball teams hosted a pep rally to introduce themselves to students, faculty and the community.
 
Head coach Anthony Gholson kicked off the night by announcing the members of the Heidelberg Cheerleaders. Following this announcement student, Jozy Hill, started to get the students involved announcing the winning raffle ticket numbers that students received at the door. The students were to complete a layup, free throw shot, three point shot and half court shot in twenty five seconds for a chance at winning $300 for books. Four students attempted but none were able to complete it and all that participated received a gift card.
 
After this the Women’s basketball team would show off their fun side performing a dance skit to some 80’s music along with a little hip-hop mixed in. Continuing with the night the cheerleaders got the crowd going by performing a few cheers. The women’s members were announced following this performance and came running out with jerseys, shirts, and pants to toss out to the crowd.
 
Several members of the men’s basketball team also added their dancing talents to the mix performing a hip-hop routine. Hill led on by announcing the members of the men’s basketball team.
 
Two more students faced off in a 3 point competition for a gift card as well. The men’s team also gave an inside of a few routine practice drills.
 
Finishing out the night the men’s basketball team had a dunk contest amongst the members of the team. Nate Davis stunned the crowd with his dunks to close off the event.
