The Berg Drops to the Yellow Jackets

Berea, Ohio – December 16, 2009 –The Heidelberg University women’s basketball team falls to Baldwin-Wallace College with a score of 70-47. The Berg drops to 2-6 overall, 2-2 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-3 overall, 3-1 in conference play.

Baldwin-Wallace would lead by as much as 10 points with seven minutes left in the game when Ali Stack found Katie Heinlen in the post, which Heinlen layed it in bringing the score to 19-9.

The Berg would go on an impressive 18-6 run going into halftime, which included taking the lead when senior Stacy Barker (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) found sophomore Lyndsey DaVault (Orrville, Ohio / Orrville) behind the three-point arc, in which DaVault drained the three giving Heidelberg the 27-25 lead going into halftime.

The Yellow Jackets would come out strong in the second half and would never look back capturing a 70-47 victory.

Junior Jenny Miller (Tiffin, Ohio / Clyde) and DaVault led the way for the Berg with 12 points each. Senior Stacey Richard (Galloway, Ohio / Central Crossing) and senior Betsy Shrider (Mount Blanchard, Ohio / Riverdale) contributed with seven points apiece, while Barker scored six points.

On the glass, Miller led with seven boards, while Shrider racked in five.

Heidelberg looks to get back in the win column when it travels to Mount Union College, Saturday, December 19, at 3:30 p.m.
