TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University women’s basketball team will Ohio Athletic Conference by traveling to Ada, Ohio to face rival Ohio Northern University in a league contest on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the ONU Sports Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Heidelberg (3-8, 0-4 OAC) is coming of a 75-66 win at Oberlin College (Jan. 2) in which it snapped a six-game losing streak. The win was the first for the Berg since Nov. 22 and was its second-highest point total this season. Four players scored in double figures, led by Kathleen Phillips (Sandusky/St. Mary's) with 17 points on a seven-of-17 shooting performance. Sophomore guard Megan Miller (Tiffin/Columbian) (13), senior guard Jazmine Shaw (Columbus/Hamilton Township) (11) and junior guard Jordan Ickes (Wooster/Triway) (11) also scored in double figures.
Ohio Northern (10-2, 4-1 OAC) has won eight of its last nine games, including a 64-63 edging of Adrian (Mich.) College in its last game (Dec. 30), and is tied with Otterbein University atop the OAC standings. Against Adrian, Kara Dysert posted team-highs of 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Polar Bears hold a 9-1 advantage in the last 10 meetings between the two teams, with the lone Heidelberg win coming in Ada on Jan. 28, 2009. Each of the Berg’s three wins this season has come in true road contests. The team’s last OAC win on the road came on Feb. 20, 2010 at Muskingum, a stretch of 12 games. The Polar Bears boast a 7-1 record at home this season, including a 2-0 slate in league play.
Following Wednesday’s contest, Heidelberg will open a four-game home stand, beginning with Marietta College on Saturday, Jan. 7.
