Miller Shines Against Muskies

Jenny Miller (Tiffin, Ohio / Clyde) had a career night, but the Heidelberg College women’s basketball team just could not pull off a win against Muskingum, losing 64-57. The loss drops the Berg to 8-7 on the year, 4-5 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while Muskingum rises to 8-7 overall, 3-6 in the OAC.

Miller, a freshman forward, set a career record of 14 rebounds in a game, while also netting her first collegiate double-double thanks to the 10 points she posted for the Berg during the contest.

Though play remained fairly even in the first half, the Muskies led at the buzzer by 10, 34-24. In the second, Heidelberg tried to overcome the deficit, but an unlucky streak of defensive foul only foiled their attempt. Muskingum dropped in four shots from behind the line in just the last 58 seconds of play alone. Even a 10-2 run late in the game by Heidelberg could not help the Tricolor pull off a last minute victory.

Besides Miller’s record-setting performance, Brittany Skolnicki (Lorain, Ohio / Clearview) also performed well for the Berg. Skolnicki dropped in 21 points, 6-for-7 from the free throw line, and reached over her opponents for the Berg’s two blocks of the game as well.

For the Muskies, Jessica McKenzie led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Jessica Lenhart tossed out six assists and grabbed three steals.

Heidelberg returns to action on Monday, January 21, at Oberlin, with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
