Campbell and Harrigan Earn Academic All-OAC Recognition

The Heidelberg College women’s basketball team was represented by senior Amanda Campbell (Pataskala, Ohio / Watkins Memorial) and junior Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana) on the 2008 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Team. Campbell earned a spot on the first team, while Harrigan was named to the honorable mention list.

The award winners are selected by the OAC faculty athletic representatives. To be eligible a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation in the sport.

Campbell, a guard, garners her second-consecutive spot on the academic first team. She is a public relations and writing major that carries a 3.50 grade point average. She has been a four-year starter for the Berg, earning All-OAC honors on three occasions, including a spot on the second team for two-straight seasons. Campbell led the Berg in rebounding with 6.9 rebounds a game, as well as leading the way in steals with 52 and in free throw percentage (.806). She stood second in scoring (13.2) and in assists (64). For the year, Campbell scored in double figures in 22 of Heidelberg’s 26 games. She picked up six double-doubles along the way this season. Within the OAC, she ranked in the top-10 in scoring, rebounding, free throw percentage, steals and three-pointers made per game (1.62). For her career, Campbell finished with 1,321 points, ranking her sixth all-time.

Earning her first postseason honor of her career is Harrigan. She is a sport management and Spanish major that carries a 3.91 GPA. Harrigan started in 21 of the 26 games that she appeared in and served as Heidelberg’s main threat from long range. She sank a single-game record seven three-pointers at Bluffton University on Dec. 21. She topped the record of six, which she was one of six that held the mark. For the year, Harrigan averaged 4.7 points a game, while picking up 38 assists and 21 steals.

Heidelberg concluded its season at 11-15 overall, including a 6-12 mark against conference foes. The Berg made its 23rd appearance in the OAC Tournament.
