'Berg Defense Leads to Second-Straight Win

The Heidelberg College women’s basketball team won its second consecutive outing with a 62-37 win over host Hiram College. The win improved Heidelberg to 2-1 on the year, while the Terriers open the year at 0-1.

Heidelberg utilized a staggering defense to help lead to the win. Hiram committed 20 turnovers, with 15 resulting in ’Berg steals. Leading the defense was Amanda Campbell (Pataskala, Ohio / Watkins Memorial) with four steals. At the half, Heidelberg held a 29-19 lead and went on to outscore the Terriers 33-18 in the second period for the road victory.

Coming off the bench to lead the Berg was Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana) with 13 points, including three from long range. Campbell chipped in with 10 points, while Maureen Hunter (Toledo, Ohio / Notre Dame) pulled down nine boards to go along with eight points.

The Berg returns to action Dec. 1 in its home opener with Wilmington College. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
