Heidelberg Falls to B-W in OAC Action
Freshman guard Lyndsey DaVault (Orrville, Ohio / Orrville) came off the bench to score 10 points, but it was not enough to help the Heidelberg women’s basketball team overcome a sluggish day from the floor in a 91-41 setback to Baldwin-Wallace College.
Baldwin-Wallace improved to 7-5 overall and 2-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Berg stands at 4-8 overall and 1-4 versus league foes.
Backing DaVault was Sarah Kesse (Cincinnati, Ohio / Colerain) with eight points, while Jenny Miller (Tiffin, Ohio / Clyde) and Stacey Barker (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) finished with five points apiece. Miller led the way on the glass with six boards.
Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets was Mariah Strayer and Catherine Spisak with 10 points each. Nancy Coulter hauled in a game-high nine rebounds.
On the day Heidelberg shot a season-low 25.9 percent (16-of-62) from the floor, which is a stark contrast to the Yellow Jacket’s season-high 53.3 clip (32-for-60). B-W held a 47-31 advantage on the glass.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets went on a 17-0 run to take control of the half and the game at 29-7 with 7:51 left. B-W extended its lead to as many as 33 points and led at halftime, 47-16.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets scored first off an offensive rebound and extended their lead to 52 points at 91-39 with 19 seconds left in the contest.
