Heidelberg Closes Out Year at Great Lakes Regional

Terre Haute, Ind. – The Heidelberg University women’s cross country team, under the guidance of second-year head coach Keith Roberts Jr., closed out its 2009 season today, November 14, at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
 
The Berg finished 30th in the field of 34, while having five of its seven runners competing in Regional for the first time of their career. Calvin College claimed the team title with 50 points followed by Oberlin College (120), Case Western University (130) and DePauw College (150). Heidelberg had 911 points on the day.
 
Freshman Bobbi Custer (Woodstock, Ohio / Triad) paced the Berg, finishing in 151st in a time of 25:59.16. Fellow junior Michelle Fitch (Kinsman, Ohio / Badger) finished in 27:18.31 and freshman Anna Brodman (Tiffin, Ohio / Calvert) crossed the finish line with a time of 27:30.97.
 
Rounding out the top five was freshman Macy McFarland (Huron, Ohio / Huron) who finished in 27:39.30, while senior Amy Dunham (Ellicott City Md. / Centennial) followed behind McFarland in a time of 28:51.12.
