Three Earn Academic Accolades

Austintown, Ohio - May 19, 2010Heidelberg University senior golfer Jennifer Wargo (Middleburg Hts. / Midpark) has been named to the women’s At-Large Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team, while junior women’s tennis players Emily Naugle (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) and Elizabeth Kurtzman (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby) have been named to the Honorable Mention list.

The women’s at-large team consists of student-athletes from the sports of golf, swimming and diving and tennis. To be eligible a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least his second year of participation in the sport. The award winners are selected by the OAC faculty athletic representatives.

Wargo will graduate with a degree in business administration with an emphasis on computer information, while cumulating a 3.53 GPA. On the links, Wargo had her best score of 181 (86, 95) at the Heidelberg Invite where she finished eighth.

Majoring in education, while earning a 3.80 GPA is Naugle. On the court, she had a third-best singles record on the team of 7-8.

Rounding out the women’s At-Large Academic All-OAC honorable mention list is Kurtzman. An English and theatre arts major, Kurtzman earned a 3.98 GPA. She was 4-11 in singles and doubles, respectively.
