'Berg Opens Fall at Yellow Jacket Invite

Columbia Station, Ohio – September 13, 2009 – The Heidelberg University women’s golf team, under the guidance of first-year head coach Faith Egli, opened its 2009 fall season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Baldwin-Wallace College hosted the event Sept. 12-13 at the Creekwood Golf Course in Columbia Station, Ohio.

The Berg stood ninth in the final team standings after shooting a 780. Cleveland State University claimed the team title (651) followed by Clarion University (662).

Pacing Heidelberg was sophomore Sarah Baker (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde). Baker was consistent in both rounds shooting a 93 twice to finish at 186, which tied for 25th. Not far behind with an 187 (93, 94) was senior Kaley Willer (Green Springs, Ohio / Clyde). Willer tied for 27th.

Senior Jen Wargo (Middleburg Heights, Ohio / Midpark) fired a 102 in round one, but returned to shoot an 88, which was the low round for the Berg. In the final standings, Wargo finished 29th.

Rounding out the top-five golfers for the berg was junior Kathryn Dutton (Dublin, Ohio / Worthington Kilbourne) in a tie for 43rd at 217 (109, 108) and freshman Maggie Kesling (Painesville, Ohio / Harding) in 53rd with a 248 (126, 122).
