‘Berg Grapplers Head to Ashland, Michigan on Saturday

TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University wrestling team will venture to its first split-squad meets of the 2011-12 season when it competes at Ashland University’s Bill Harris Open and the Olivet (Mich.) College Duals on Saturday, Nov. 19. Start time for the Bill Harris Open is 9 a.m. and the Olivet Duals begin at 10 a.m.

The Student Princes (0-1) will face the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, Trine (Ind.) University, Alma (Mich.) College and North Central (Ill.) College at the Olivet Duals.

The ‘Berg grapplers last competed a week ago at the Michigan State Open, where they placed 20th among 33 teams. Sophomore 141-pounder and Ohio Athletic Conference wrestler of the week Chris Osborne (McComb) and sophomore 197-pounder Jason Russell (Columbus/West) led the team with three wins apiece, including three pins by Osborne.

Following this weekend’s split-squad meets, the Student Princes will have a two-week layoff before competing at the Ohio Northern University Invitational on Dec. 3.
