Seven Placers Lead to Runner-Up Finish

Wheaton, Ill. – January 30, 2010 – Senior Zach Mizer (Canton, Ohio / Perry) and junior Matt Curley (Brecksville, Ohio / Lakewood) paced seven placers en route to the Heidelberg University wrestling team taking home runner-up honors at the 2010 Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside took the team title with 175.5 points followed by Heidelberg with 108.5 points. Standing in third was the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with 92 points. Rounding out the top-five was North Central College (89.0) and Elmhurst College (86.5).

Mizer took home the 157 pound title after posting a 5-0 record that included three falls and a technical fall. Curley followed with a championship at 165 pounds with a 4-0 mark which was highlighted by a major decision.

Finishing in sixth place was Tom D’Alessandro (Mayfield Heights, Ohio / Mayfield) at 133 pounds, along with Ed Bizorik (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) at 184 pounds. D’Alessandro had a 4-3 record with a major decision, while Bizorik went 5-2 with two falls.

At 174 pounds Dan Jonhenry (Berea, Ohio / Berea) stood seventh with a 3-2 record and one fall. Also taking home seventh place was heavyweight Jerry Knapp (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted). Knapp finished at 4-3 with two falls.

Rounding out the placers for the Berg was Sam Delpra (Chesterland, Ohio / West Geauga) in the 141 pound weight class. Delpra went 3-3 with a fall to finish in eighth.
