Heidelberg Finishes 2-1 at Comet Duals

Olivet, Mich. – November 21, 2009 – The nationally ranked Heidelberg University wrestling team posted a 2-1 record at the 2009 Comet Duals hosted by Olivet College at the Cutler Events Center in Olivet, Mich. Heidelberg improves its overall dual record to 3-1.

The day began with a 29-15 win over Grand Valley State University followed by a 24-10 win over the host Comets. The only setback on the day was to Trine University, 16-15. Senior Aaron Jonhenry (Berea, Ohio / Berea) and junior Matt Curley (Brecksville, Ohio / Lakewood) each finished with 3-0 records on the day at 165 and 174 pounds, respectively.

In the win over Grand Valley, Ed Bizorik (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) had a fall at 184 pounds to lead the way. Backing Bizorik was Zach Mizer (Canton, Ohio / Perry) (157), Jonhenry (165) and Curley (174) with major decisions.

Heidelberg won eight weight classes by decision en route to its win over Olivet. Picking up victories was Jake Weisman (Bexley, Ohio / Bexley) (125), Tom D’Alessandro (Mayfield, Ohio / Mayfield Heights) (133), Clemens Artmann (Hillsboro, Ohio / Hillsboro) (141), Mizer (157), Jonhenry (165), Curley (174 and Bizorik (184).

The day concluded with a hard fought battle with Trine. Heidelberg and Trine split the 10 weight classes, but a Trine major decision at 149 pounds proved to be the deciding point. Picking up wins was D’Alessandro (133), Artmann (141), Jonhenry (165), Curley (174) and Brock Rickert (Mansfield, Ohio /Ontario) (285).
