Ten Place at Sunshine Classic

Palm Coast, Fla. – December 29, 2009 – The Heidelberg University wrestling team placed ten wrestlers in eight different weight classes at the 2009 Augsburg College Brute/Adidas Sunshine Open at Flagler Palm Coast High School in Palm Coast, Fla. Dec. 28-29.

Heidelberg was paced by runner-ups Zach Mizer (Canton, Ohio / Perry) at 157 pounds and Dan Jonhenry (Berea, Ohio / Berea) at 174 pounds.

En route to his runner-up finish, Mizer posted a 4-1 record which included a fall, a technical fall and a major decision. Jonhenry posted a 3-1 mark and had a major decision.

Taking home a third place finish at 165 pounds was Matt Curley (Brecksville, Ohio / Lakewood). Curley finished at 4-1 and had three majors and one fall. Joining Curley in third place was heavyweight Jerry Knapp (Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted Falls) with a 5-1 record.

At 149 pounds, Andrew Johnson (Weston, Ohio / Ostego) finished the classic with two falls and a 4-2 record, which was good enough for a fourth place finish.

Finishing in fifth and sixth place, respectively was Delian Schneider (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) and Cory Martinson (Brunswick, Ohio / St. Edwards). Schneider posted a 3-2 record at 125 pounds, while Martinson had a 3-3 record, with a major decision in the 157 pound weight class.

Dayne Williams (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) and Andrew Lovins (Clinton Township, Ohio / Lake Shore) each finished in seventh place. Williams went 3-2, with two falls, at 174 pounds and Lovins posted a 4-2 record at 184 pounds with three falls.

Rounding out the placers for the Berg was William Rigsby (Dublin, Ohio / St. Charles). Rigsby stood eighth at 197 pounds after posting a 3-2 record.
