Ashland, Ohio – February 5, 2011 – The Heidelberg University wrestling team faced a setback against Division II competition at Ashland University. The Berg falls to a record of 9-8-2, while Ashland improves to 12-2-1.
Daniel Mardara for AU began the match with a 4-3 decision over Heidelberg’s Devin Mazik. The Berg’s sole victory on the day came from freshman Brandon Montgomery McComb, Ohio / McComb) at 133 with a 2-0 decision over the Eagles Ryan Marks.
At 157, AU’s Marc Hoff defeated Heidelberg’s Jason Barnett (Westerville, Ohio / Desales ) in a close match 2-1, followed by senior Matt Curley (Brecksville, Ohio / Lakewood) that fell to Brandon Kelly, 4-2. The Eagles finished out the match with four pins, giving them a 41-3 victory over Heidelberg.
Heidelberg returns to the mats Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in an Ohio Athletic Conference match-up at Baldwin-Wallace College at 7:30 p.m.
