Naperville, Ill. – December 18, 2010 – The nationally ranked Heidelberg University wrestling team posted a 1-1-1 record at the North Central College Quadrangular on Saturday, Dec. 18. The Berg started the day with a 23-23 tie with Cornell College and rebounded with a convincing 57-0 victory over Wheaton College. Its stint in Illinois concluded with a 23-17 setback to no. 24 ranked, and host, North Central. Overall the Berg boasts a record of 4-2-2.
Pacing the Berg on the day was 285 pound Jerry Knapp (Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted Falls). Knapp registered three pins on the day, all of which took place in the first period. Against Cornell, Knapp had a pin in 2:57 to secure a tie. Also garnering three wins on the day was 197 pound Andrew Lovins (Clinton Township, Mich. / Lake Shore).
Picking up two technical falls in two bouts was 174 pound Matt Curley (Lakewood, Ohio / Brecksville), while Andrew Johnson (Weston, Ohio / Ostego) was 2-1 with two falls at 149 pounds. Also securing two wins was Pat Rigsby (Dublin, Ohio / St. Charles) in the 184 pound weight class.
