NEW CONCORD, Ohio—Seven Student Princes recorded victories as the Heidelberg University wrestling team defeated Muskingum University, 30-9, tonight in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual match in New Concord, Ohio.
Heidelberg (3-6, 1-1 OAC) won its first four bouts to race out to a 20-0 lead, including major decisions by senior 133-pounder Jake Weisman (Bexley) and sophomore 149-pounder Chris Osborne (McComb) and a pin by sophomore 149-pounder Ian Gillespie (Cincinnati/Elder).
Muskingum scored three consecutive decisions to cut the ‘Berg lead to 20-9, but sophomore 184-pounder Jake Cochran (West Jefferson) guaranteed the victory with a 12-5 decision over Tre Martin.
Junior 197-pounder Andy Lovins (Clinton Township, Mich./Lake Shore) added a major decision and freshman heavyweight Tyler Smith (Calhoun/Sonoraville) recorded a decision for good measure.
The Heidelberg grapplers return to the mat Tuesday, Feb. 7 when they travel to Alliance, Ohio for an OAC dual match against the University of Mount Union.
