Andy Lovins Finishes 2-2 at NCAA Wrestling Championships

LA CROSSE, Wisc.—Junior 197-pound Ohio Athletic Conference champion Andy Lovins (Clinton Township, Mich./Lake Shore), representing the Heidelberg University wrestling team, finished his tour of the 2012 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships 2-2 at the La Crosse Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

The Berg finished in 46th place among the 62-team field.

Lovins received a first-round bye, but fell to Adam Latella of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in 6-2 a decision. He then forced a 14-3 major decision over Justin Leonard of Olivet (Mich.) College and an 11-5 decision of Darren Faber Wheaton (Ill.) College to advance to the consolation bracket fourth round.

In his last match of the season, Lovins fell, 10-2, to Nathan Schmitz of Concordia College – Moorhead.

Lovins tallied two points for the Berg, which will finish no lower than 46th place in the 62-team field following the conclusion of the meet this evening.
