TIFFIN, Ohio—Sophomores Chris Osborne (McComb) and Jason Russell (Columbus/West) and senior Jerry Knapp (Columbia Station/Olmsted Falls) each won bouts, but the Heidelberg University wrestling team lost a non-conference dual match to Division II foe Ashland University, 27-10, tonight at Seiberling Gymnasium in Tiffin, Ohio.
Ashland (1-0) raced out to an 8-0 lead, but Osborne cut the lead in half to 8-4 after a 14-4 major decision over Dan Genetin in the 141-pound weight class.
The Eagles then took four straight bouts to re-extend their lead to 24-4.
Russell (Columbus/West) took a 3-2 decision against Kurt Schaefer in the 184-bout to close the close the gap to 24-7.
Following another Eagle win, Knapp closed the match on a strong note for the ‘Berg, taking a 5-1 decision from Clint Endicott in the heavyweight tilt.
The Student Princes (2-4) return to the mat next Thursday, Dec. 15 when they face The College of Mount St. Joseph in a dual match in Cincinnati, Ohio.
