The Heidelberg University women’s soccer team traveled to University Heights, Ohio to battle the Blue Streaks of John Carroll University. Under the lights of Don Shula Stadium, the Berg fell to their Ohio Athletic Conference foe, 4-1.
The Heidelberg women move to 3-12-1 overall and 2-6-0 in the OAC.
Senior Krista Blake (Geneva) netted the Berg’s sixth goal of the season in the 81st minute. The goal marks Blake’s first of the 2012 season and the fifth of her career.
With Blake’s goal, Stephanie Crossman (Dayton/Bellbrook) tabbed the first assist of her sophomore season. Crossman has also tallied four shots on goal for the Student Princes.
Freshman Julie Cross (Bowling Green) recorded nine saves in net for the Berg. Cross has collected 120 saves in her freshman campaign, which ties Marietta goalkeeper Kaitlyn Pearse for most saves in the OAC.
The Heidelberg women’s soccer team will return to action on Saturday, October 27, when they return to Hidden Valley Soccer Complex in Tiffin to battle the University of Mount Union. The match between the Student Princes and the Purple Raiders is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The Berg women will be celebrating senior day that Saturday.
