Tiffin, Ohio – November 2, 2010 – Senior Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) of the Heidelberg University women’s soccer team has earned a spot on the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District IV third team. Gross is the first student-athlete to earn this honor in the history of the women’s soccer program.
The honor is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible one must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, is a starter or key reserve and be at least a sophomore.
A psychology major, with an emphasis on mental health, Gross currently boasts a 3.43 GPA. She has been recognized for her academics throughout her career as she has earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women Scholar All-East Region, All-Ohio Academic, and All-OAC Academic teams.
In her senior campaign, Gross recorded seven points which includes three goals and an assist.
The 2010 season showed promise for Heidelberg women’s soccer future. The Berg’s nine wins marks the most under fifth-year head coach Nick Spell since he took over in 2006.
