Tiffin, Ohio – May 10, 2011 – Head women’s soccer coach Nick Spell has announced the release of Heidelberg University’s 2011 schedule. The Berg is slated to play 18 regular season contests, with nine coming against opponents in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The season opens with a weekend trip to the state of Michigan. Sept. 3 the Berg will face Adrian College and head to Albion College Sept. 5. A three-game season opening road swing concludes Sept. 7 at Grove City College in Grove City, Pa.
Heidelberg opens its home schedule Sept. 10 against Defiance College under the lights at Mayer Field. Its contest with Defiance starts a stretch of four of its next six games at home to close out the month of September. The Berg will also host the College of Mount St. Joseph (Sept. 16) and Hiram College (Sept. 27) at Mayer Field and will entertain Indiana Tech (Sept. 21) at Hidden Valley.
The month of October marks the start of league play and Heidelberg opens with a road game at Capital University on the first. Otterbein University (Oct. 5), Muskingum University (Oct. 8) and Baldwin-Wallace College (Oct. 12) are three straight home opponents before heading to the University of Mount Union on Oct. 15. Heidelberg will face Muskingum at Hidden Valley.
Heidelberg’s home schedule concludes with John Carroll University (Oct. 18) at Mayer Field and with Marietta College (Oct. 22) at Hidden Valley.
Final preparation for the OAC Tournament will be road games with Ohio Northern University (Oct. 26) and with Wilmington College (Oct. 29).
Heidelberg will look to return to the OAC Tournament after a one-year hiatus. The top-six teams in the regular season standings earn a spot in the league’s postseason tournament. The Berg is coming off a 9-8-2 season.
