TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University women’s soccer team will look to close the month of September and non-conference play with a win as it hosts Hiram College on Tuesday in Tiffin, Ohio. Kickoff from Mayer Field is set for 7 p.m.
The Berg, 3-5 overall, will be looking for its first win since beating The College of Mount St. Joseph, 4-1, on Sept. 16. Seven different student-athletes have accounted for ‘Berg’s nine scores this season, led by sophomore midfielder Kelsey Hogan (Cincinnati/Mariemont), whose hat trick and assist against MSJ give her a team-high seven points.
Hogan’s 22 shots and 12 shots on goal also led the team.
In goal, junior Molly Schriber (Sidney) has emerged as the primary keeper, logging 405 minutes in the net and making 36 saves. Schriber is 2-3 as goalkeeper, including one shutout.
Hiram enters tomorrow’s contest with a 3-3 record and is led by Ernestina Zappa. Zappa has placed three of her nine shots in the back of the net and has added three assists for a team-high nine points. Lisa Silvestro and Kate Valaitis have split time in goal, with Silvestro making eight saves and allowing three goals, and Valaitis notching 16 stops while allowing five scores.

With half of its 2011 scheduled complete, the Berg will begin October and Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday, Oct. 1 at Capital University. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
