Heidelberg Women's Soccer Team Drops OAC Match to John Carroll, 1-0, in Tiffin

Box Score | 15-Match Season Stats

TIFFIN, Ohio—Junior goalkeeper Molly Schriber (Sidney) made an Ohio Athletic Conference season-high nine saves, but the Heidelberg University women’s soccer team fell to John Carroll University, 1-0, in an OAC match at Mayer Field in Tiffin, Ohio. The game was delayed for 53 minutes in the first half due to heavy storms in the Tiffin area.

The loss drops the Berg to 5-9-1 overall and 2-4-0 in the OAC. The victory moves John Carroll to 11-5-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the OAC.

The Blue Streak offense showed strong penetration during the first 24 minutes until the game was delayed, outshooting the Berg, 7-0, but a stingy Heidelberg defense limited the amount of open looks for JCU, as Schriber notched four saves prior to the delay.

After officials allowed the game to resume, Genny Goergen gave JCU a 1-0 lead when she scored a goal in the 40th minute. Colleen Harmon and Rachel Grdina were credited with the assist.

Schriber faced defended 10 shots on goal in 90 minutes of action and upped her team-leading saves to 68.

Heidelberg will play its final home match of the 2011 season Saturday, Oct. 22 when it hosts Marietta College at Hidden Valley at 1 p.m.
