Hanover, IN – The Heidelberg women’s soccer team traveled to Hanover College in Indiana for the first match of a two game weekend road trip. The game was a homecoming for ‘Berg graduate assistant Blaine Bishop, who played for the defending Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champions a season ago. The Panthers were victorious, 2-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Julie Cross (Bowling Green) recorded a career high eleven saves in net for the Berg.
Sophomore Kristen Smith (Lancaster/Bloom Carroll) recorded the lone shot for the Student Princes (0-3).
Cross shutout the Panthers until the 53rd minute, when Tricia Walsh scored an unassisted goal from 18 yards out. The second Hanover goal came when Rachel Alvis served up an assist to Anne-Spicer Adams in the 70th minute.
The Berg will return to competition on September 9 when they travel to Thomas More College in Kentucky.
