Heidelberg Women’s Soccer Gives Back

On top of the many hours the Heidelberg College women’s soccer team puts into their own soccer program, they are also volunteering their time to help coach youth soccer at Washington Elementary this year.  Some of the women are coaching their own teams, and others are assisting parent coaches.

“This is a great way for the team to give back to the community, through the sharing of their knowledge of the game,” commented Heidelberg’s assistant coach, Tara Bowen.

Dave Pool, the director of this new program at Washington Elementary, is very excited about getting soccer started back up at the school.  Pool thinks that with the involvement of the Heidelberg women’s soccer team Washington Elementary will be able to catch up and compete with the rest of the city’s elementary schools, which have had soccer for several years.

“I think it is awesome that the team can find time to help out,” stated Pool.

The program is separated into three divisions, kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade, and fourth and fifth grade. The first two divisions have four teams each and compete amongst only each other.  The fourth and fifth grade division teams compete against other schools in the city.

The teams play every Sunday at Washington Elementary. Contact Dave Pool at (419) 618-0477 for information on times.
