'Berg Gets Stung by Yellow Jackets

The Heidelberg women’s soccer team could not continue their five-game non-losing streak after losing to Defiance 1-0. Heidelberg falls to 4-3-2 and Defiance College improves their record to 3-4-1.  
 
With a total of 24 fouls, both teams were very aggressive on the field, but the game remained scoreless until the 71st minute of play. Defiance’s Kaitlin Monberg dribbled down the right side of the field and drilled a shot at the goal. Heidelberg keeper Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio/ Elyria Catholic) tapped the ball, but could manage to make the save as the ball sailed into the back of the net.
 
Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) led the Berg offensively with eight shots, six of which were on goal. In the net, Sweeney brought in three saves for Heidelberg and Colleen Cross of Defiance snagged 13 saves.

Heidelberg travels to Indiana this weekend to face Huntington on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
