Heidelberg Falls to B-W
Baldwin-Wallace College managed to stay undefeated in Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 2-0 win over the Heidelberg women’s soccer team. The Yellow Jackets scored both goals in under 24 minutes into the game and never looked back. Heidelberg drops to 4-5-3 overall, 0-1-1 in the OAC, while B-W rises to 5-3-3, 2-0 in league play.
Heidelberg was no match for the B-W defenders and only managed to boot seven shots on the night, compared to the Yellow Jackets 30. ’Berg goalkeeper Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) held her own at the net and picked up 16 saves, 12 of which came in the second half.
Linsey Clapacs scored her first goal of the season and the first goal of the game for B-W off an assist from Amanda Vitello into the left side of the box. Brittany Thomas netted another goal seven minutes later when she chipped one in from 18 yards out after receiving the ball from teammate Mandy Davis.
Cori-Ann Brown (Columbus, Ohio / Olentangy) led the Berg with two shots on goal, while Kristen Schneider (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame), Ivy Thompson (Marietta, Ohio / Marietta), and Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) contributed one apiece.
Heidelberg returns to Mayer Field on Saturday, October 11, at 2 p.m. to face-off against Wilmington College.
