Quakers Conquer the 'Berg

Wilmington College was able to stay undefeated in the Ohio Athletic Conference defeating Heidelberg 2-0. Heidelberg drops to 4-6-3 overall, 0-2-1 in the OAC and Wilmington improves their record to 10-3, 3-0 in the conference.
 
The Quakers had 19 shots on goal compared to the ’Berg’s 3. Heidelberg goalie Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) recorded 17 saves, the third game in a row in which she picked up double-digits in saves.
 
It was not until the second half that the back of the net saw some action. Wilmington’s Katie Skaleski headed the ball in off of a corner kick by Ashley Garcia in the 70th minute, scoring her fourth goal of the season. After nine minutes went by, Garcia picked up her second assist of the match. Garcia took the free kick and Alex Hesson got a piece of the ball and scored her sixth goal of the season.
 
Freshman Rachael Johann (Evansville, Indiana / Evansville Reitz) played aggressively on the defensive end for the ’Berg. Kristen Schneider (Cincinnati, Ohio /Mount Notre Dame), Lacey Hoffman (Lancaster, Ohio / Lancaster), and Suzanne Chudzinski (Fremont, Ohio / Fremont Ross) each contributed one shot on goal.

Heidelberg travels to John Carroll on Wednesday, October 15 to face the Blue Streaks at 4:00 p.m.
