Three Voted to Women's Soccer Academic All-OAC Team

The Heidelberg University women’s soccer team has placed three student-athletes on the 2008 Ohio Athletic Conference Academic All-OAC Team. Earning a spot on the all-academic team was junior defender Ann Washington (Lexington, Ohio / Lexington), while sophomore defender Katie Klein (Milford, Ohio /Milford) and sophomore forward Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) earned a spot on the honorable mention list.
 
To qualify, a student-athlete must have maintained a 3.25 grade point average, be a sophomore academically and is in at least her second year of participation. She must also have been a starter or key reserve who has made significant athletic impact. The honorees are voted on by the faculty athletic representatives.
 
Washington served as a team captain in her junior campaign, and led the Berg defense as well. In the classroom Washington is equally impressive carrying a perfect 4.0 grade points average as a business major. In 2008 she recorded one assist and took one shot.
 
Klein joined Washington on the Berg defense in 2008, while holding a 3.89 gpa as an athletic training major. Klein had one goal on the year for two points. She took four shots, with three landing on goal.
 
Gross carries a 3.68 gpa as a psychology major. She led the team with two assists, 12 points, 50 shots and 27 shots on goal. Gross shared team-honors with five goals. For the year she picked up two game-winning goals.
 
Heidelberg, under the guidance of third-year head coach Nick Spell, finished the year at 5-11-3 overall.
