Centre Defeats the Berg
Danville, Ky. – September 6, 2009 – The Heidelberg University women’s soccer team lost their second game in the Centre College Tournament against Centre College 5-0. The Berg goes to 0-2 while the Colonels improve to 3-0 on the year.
Centre’s Amy Hebbeler had a career day with two goals. She was also the first to score when she received a pass by Holly Shields from 15 yards out and snuck it past Heidelberg’s Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) in the 35th minute to make the score 1-0, in favor of the Colonels.
Colonels’ Chelsea Stanley, Brittany Garr, and Christina Giles each administered a goal as well.
Heidelberg’s Cori-Ann Brown (Columbus, Ohio / Oletangy) had a solid performance with two shots with one shot-on-goal. Krista Blake (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) and Makenzie Dunford (Ontario, Canada / Orangeville District Section) recorded their first career shot of their collegiate career.
The Berg will play their home opener when College of Mount Saint Joseph comes into town Wednesday, September 9 at 5:30 p.m.
