Gross and the Berg Blanks the Muskies

Tiffin, Ohio – October 24, 2009 – On 2009 Senior Day, the Heidelberg University women’s soccer team shutout Muskingum University with a score of 2-0. Heidelberg improves to 6-10-1 overall, 3-4 OAC, while the Muskies drop to 4-13, 0-7 in the OAC. 
 
Heidelberg’s Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) got things started when in the 23rd minute she retrieved a block ball from five yards out and placed it in the back of the net for a 1-0 go ahead score and the eventual game winning goal. Gross leads the team with five goals with four of them resulting in game-winners on the season.
 
Insurance came for the Berg when in 60th minute Carolyn Gross and Krista Blake (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) found Kristen Schneider (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame) who then scored from 10 yards out to the far high corner of the goal, making the score 2-0. The goal marked Schneider’s first of the season.
 
Backing up Carolyn Gross who had four shots with three being on goal was Krista Blake who had a game-high five shots with two shots on goal. Also making an impact on offense was Rachel Johann (Evansville, Ind. / Evansville Reitz) who earned three shots which were all on goal.
 
Heidelberg’s Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) had four saves on the day.
 
The Berg returns to action for their last regular season home game when they host Capital University, Saturday, October 27, at 7:00 p.m.
