Betsy Hada
Head Coach
(419) 448-2289
bhada@heidelberg.edu
Expectations are at an all-time high with Betsy Hada at the helm. Hada enters her second year overseeing the Heidelberg University softball team in 2010 and will continue to strive for the top half of the Ohio Athletic Conference.
A late addition to the program in the summer of 2009, Hada utilized her first year at Heidelberg as a time to reorganize and restructure the program for future success. Hada helped to guide the Berg to a sweep of Wilmington College, which marks 10-straight wins against the Quakers, as well as a split with perennial OAC power Marietta College on the Pioneers home field. Along the way, Hada coached her first all-league selection in outfielder Bobbi Kendeigh.
Hada, a 2001 Heidelberg graduate, is just the 10th head coach in the history of the fast pitch program that dates back to 1985. Hada brings a wealth of OAC playing and coaching experience to the Berg. Prior to Heidelberg, Hada was the assistant softball and pitching coach at Marietta, as well as a resident director and instructor. The Pioneers were consistently ranked in the top-25 of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll and made the 2007 NCAA regional tournament. In 2006, Hada shared Ohio Athletic Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
She also has worked with Coast to Coast Softball, based out of Manchester, Conn., as an assistant coach and pitching instructor for the past three years. Hada traveled with the team to Hawaii in 2005 and Australia in 2007.
While at the Berg, Hada was a four-year letter winner and two-time captain, while splitting time on the mound and in centerfield. During her senior season, Hada was named Third Team All-Central Region. She currently stands second in the single season record book with 38 RBIs, 12 doubles, and fifth with five homeruns. In the career record book, Hada is fifth with 65 RBIs and third with seven homeruns.
A native of Painesville, Ohio, Hada was inducted into the T.W. Harvey High School Athletic Hall of Fame in October of 2008. She received a bachelor of arts in health and physical education from Heidelberg and a master’s degree in education from Marietta in 2006.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the Heidelberg coaching staff is Pam Dreslinski. Dreslinski was a four-year member of the Division I Hofstra University softball team and brings in depth knowledge about the essential fundamental and mental skills of the game.
Prior to Heidelberg, Dreslinski served as an assistant coach at Edgewood Senior High School and was a substitute teacher. Dreslinski has utilized her experience to assist with several summer organizations, including the Kenny Ulrich softball camp and the Laura Sweeney softball camp.
During her time at Hofstra, she was a First Team All-Mid Atlantic selection in 2008 and was a four-time Colonial Athletic Association honoree. In the classroom, Dreslinski was equally impressive, earning NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete accolades every year and as also voted to the academic all-district team. In 2007, she was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
She graduated in 2008 from Hofstra with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a minor in sociology. Dreslinski originally hails from Kingsville, Ohio and was a 2004 graduate of Edgewood Senior High School.

Joining the Heidelberg coaching staff for her first season is Kasi Sponhaltz. Sponhaltz will work mainly with the Berg pitching staff in her inaugural campaign. She also works in Heidelberg’s Office of Admissions as the Post Secondary Options Recruiter.
Prior to Heidelberg, Sponhaltz was the pitching coach at Louisburg College from 2008-09, along with serving as the pitching coach for the Franklin County Fire 14 and under travel team in Bunn, N.C.
Sponhaltz pitched for Louisburg from 2002-04 where she was tabbed an Academic All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). She continued her collegiate career at Division II Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. Sponhaltz was a pitcher at Carson-Newman from 2005-06 and she helped to guide them to an overall record of 80-26. In 2005 they won the South Atlantic Conference championship and Sponhaltz was also part of two NCAA qualifying teams.
