Softball Holds Annual Alumni Game

The Heidelberg College softball team, led by head coach Wendy Rochon, held their annual alumni game on Saturday, Oct. 13. It was an exciting game, with alumni coming back from as far as the class of 1980 to participate.

Class of 2001 Alumnus Betsy Hada, currently assistant softball coach at Marietta College, has been active every year in helping Rochon arrange a competitive alumni line-up to play against the Berg. Hada has also been active in building an alumni database for the program as it looks to help keep all members of the Heidelberg softball family, past and present, up to date on events.

“It was great to have the alumni come out to play against us,” Rochon remarked, “The game always draws a crowd of family and friends of the program, and I enjoy the time spent catching up with everyone. The alumni played very hard this year and gave us a challenging game. I look forward to next year’s game and hope that more alumni can participate.”

Alumni who participated include: Hada, Stephanie Taylor (‘00), Katie Fazekas (’04), Heather Markward (’04), Elizabeth DiRocco (‘03), Carisa Frysinger (‘03), Erin (Mitchell) Tope (‘03), and Donna Palmer (’80). Assistant Heidelberg softball coach Jenny Carroll helped the ladies round-out their line-up and filled in at centerfield for the game.
