Wilmington, Ohio – April 29, 2011 – The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team put a five game skid to a halt after topping Wilmington College 5-4 on the Wilmington College Tennis Courts. The Berg improves to 3-14 overall and 2-6 in the OAC, while the Quakers drop to 3-9 and 2-6.
After losing in the first singles spot, Heidelberg posted three-straight wins. Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) started things off with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Jackquelyn Earl (Crestline, Ohio / Crestline) (6-2, 6-4) and Kam Haifleigh (Wolvenne Lake, Mich. / Bishop Foley) (6-1, 6-1) followed.
Wilmington would sneak out the last two singles to tie it 3-3.
The duo of Gerber and Potter earned the Berg a 4-3 lead after winning 8-3 in the first double spot.
After the Quakers tied it with a 9-7 win in the second doubles, Heidelberg’s Taylor Stoll (Norwalk, Ohio / Edison) and Linda Miller (Garfield Heights, Ohio / Garfield Heights) brought home the win with a 9-8 (7-1) win in the final match of the day.
