'Berg Finishes Season in Quarterfinals at Berea

May 4, 2011 — Berea, Ohio — The seven-seeded Heidelberg University women’s tennis team dropped to the two-seeded Baldwin-Wallace College today in the Quarterfinals of the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament at the Pop Collins Tennis Courts, 5-0.

The Berg finishes the season at 4-15 overall (3-6 in the OAC), while the Yellow Jackets improve to 12-10 and will advance to the Semifinals to face the number three-seeded John Carroll University on Friday.

On the year, senior Jackquelyn Earl (Crestline, Ohio / Crestline) led Heidelberg with seven singles wins, followed by junior Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) with six.

Freshmen Deidre Potter (Chillicothe, Ohio / Chillicothe) and Kam Haifleigh (Wolvenne Lake, Mich. / Bishop Foley) made immediate impact in their first year with fours wins each.

In doubles competition, the duo of Gerber and Potter led the way with five victories on the season.
