Springfield, Ohio – October 2, 2010 - The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team traveled to take on Wittenberg University today. The Berg fell to the Tigers, 8-1.
Taking the solo win for the Berg was the duo of Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) and Bryana Adkins (Lorain, Ohio / Amherst) at second doubles (8-3). This is the second straight win, taking a win over Defiance in the opener of their fall preseason.
At first singles Elizabeth Kurtzman (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby) was able to force her opponent into a third set. Kurtzman fell in the first set 6-3, but bounced back to take the second, 6-0, but fell 11-9 in a third set tiebreaker.
Also pushing her match into three sets was Jackquelyn Earl (Crestline, Ohio / Crestline), who dropped the first set, 0-6, and fought back to take the second (7-6(8-6), but fell 11-9 as well in her third set tiebreaker.
