Women’s Tennis Ends Season with Loss to Otterbein in OAC Quarters

WESTERVILLE, Ohio—Otterbein University defeated the Heidelberg University women’s tennis team, 5-0, today in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals at the Clements Recreation Center in Westerville, Ohio. The Berg ends its season at 5-11 overall.

Otterbein swept doubles play and won at No. 1 and No. 6 singles to secure the victory.

Senior Kayla Gerber (Clyde) and freshmen Katie Strahan (West Chester/Lakota East) and Sara Potts’ (Clyde) matches at Nos. 2, 3 and 4 singles went unfinished after the Cardinals secured the victory with five match wins.

Singles Results: 1. Julie Stroyne (OTT) def. Deidre Potter (HEID) 6-0, 6-1; 6. Emma Krummel (OTT) def. Erin Gorrell (HEID) 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles Results: 1. Julie Stroyne/Taylor Jordan (OTT) def. Deidre Potter/Kayla Gerber (HEID) 8-0; 2. Cassie Brungarth/Alana Cheplowitz (OTT) def. Katie Strahan/Sara Potts (HEID) 8-5; 3. Emily Harper/Kelsey Leachko (OTT) def. Melissa HerreraOrtiz/Linda Miller (HEID) 8-1.
