Women's Tennis Falls to Mount Union
The Heidelberg College women’s tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to visiting Mount Union College today in an Ohio Athletic Conference match. The setback drops Heidelberg to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders improve to 10-5 and 4-1 in league action.
Mount Union opened the day sweeping doubles action and the Berg could not recover. Amanda Hanning (Galion, Ohio / Galion) put up a hard-fought battle at first singles to Mount Union’s Kacey Huff, 7-5, just missing scoring for the Berg.
Also putting up a battle on the day was Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana) at second singles, who fell 6-3, 6-1 and Emily Naugle (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) at fourth singles, falling 6-2, 6-3.
At third singles, Elizabeth Kurtzman (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby) dropped her first set 6-1, but battled back to push Mount Union’s Marissa Hollinger and eventfully suffered a tough 6-4 setback in the second set.
