John Carroll Sweeps by the Berg

John Carroll University swept the Heidelberg College women’s tennis team 9-0 in their Ohio Athletic Conference match in University Heights, Ohio today. The Berg falls to 2-10 overall, 1-7 in OAC action, while JCU stands at 5-10 for the season, 2-4 in the OAC.

The closest match in singles play for Heidelberg came in the second position where Elizabeth Kurtzman (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby)  fell to the Blue Streak’s Anna Navatsyk in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. In doubles, the duo of Amanda Hanning (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana) fought hard, but lost to Navatsyk and Amy Marchlen 8-3 in the first spot.

Heidelberg returns to the court Saturday, April 19, at home against Otterbein for the team’s last match of the year before the OAC Championships begin. Play is set to begin at 1 p.m.
