'Berg Wins in Opening Spring Match

 The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team received their first win for the spring season, 8-1, over Marietta College.  This brings their record to 2-0 while the Pioneers drop to 1-2.
 
In singles action the Berg saw five wins for the night. At number five singles Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana) blanked Corin Bonnett 6-0, 6-0. For second singles Elizabeth Kurtzman won (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby) 6-1, 6-2 against Caitlin Cornell. The final wins came from Emily Naugle (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) 6-0, 6-3, Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) 6-4, 6-2 and Darcy Young (Green Springs, Ohio / Clyde) 6-0, 6-4.
 
The Berg took wins in all three doubles spots. At first doubles Amanda Hanning (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Harrigan won 8-3 against Amanda Carraher and Cornell. In the two positions Kurtzman and Naugle won 8-0, while Gerber and Young finished 8-3 at third doubles.
 
The Berg will travel to Baldwin Wallace Tuesday March 31, for their next match with play beginning at 3:30 p.m.
