Berg Drops Match to Otterbein
The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team lost a hard fought Ohio Athletic Conference match at home today against Otterbein College 6-3. The Berg’s record drops to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the OAC, while the Cardinals advance to 12-6 and 5-2.
The Berg picked up two in doubles to start off the match. Elizabeth Kurtzman (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby) and Emily Naugle (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) won 9-8 (7-4) over opponents Sarah Jenney and Kylie Hammons at second doubles. Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) and Darcy Young (Green Springs, Ohio / Clyde) took the other win at third doubles 8-2.
The Cardinals came back to take five singles matches for the night. Picking up a win at sixth singles was Cassandra Nino (Willard, Ohio / Willard) forcing three sets over opponent Angela Sammons 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Berg finishes with their regular season at home on Saturday, April 25 against Mount Union.
